Batteries and shelf life
It is important to test the batteries of your smoke alarm monthly. Would you like to receive a monthly reminder? Then sign up for our smartreminder service. Then you know for sure that you will be tested every month. By testing, you can be sure that the smoke detector will react properly in a dangerous situation. What is also of great importance is the durability of the smoke detector. Not every smoke detector lasts the same amount of time. Smoke detectors with the longest service life last 10 years. These can be recognised by the Q-label.
A useful tip: Write the expiry date on the side of the smoke detector so you don't forget. You will then know the expiry date and be able to replace the smoke alarm in time.
Cleaning your smoke alarm
Clean your smoke detector about once a month with a damp cloth and clean it twice a year inside and out with a hoover. A soft-bristled attachment may be used. Unscrew the Smoke Alarm from its mounting plate and also clean the inside and mounting plate with the hoover. After this, mount the smoke detector back in place and don't forget to test it with the test button!
